THIS WEEK: May 23 Home Opener vs Boston Breakers at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY 7:00 pm

LAST WEEK: ROCHESTER, NY---Brittany Taylor scored the only goal, giving the New York Fury a 1-0 win over the Western New York Flash at Sahlen's Stadium Saturday night.

The win is the second straight for the Fury, who open the season at 2-0-0, and are tied with the Boston Breakers for first place. Western New York falls to 1-1-0.

Merritt Mathias, who scored three goals in the Fury's opener against the New England Mutiny last week, set up Saturday’s goal with a corner kick in the 54th minute. The goal was the first of the season for Taylor.

The Flash, one of three teams in the WPSL Elite League with roots in Women's Professional Soccer, held an 11-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Fury goalkeeper Michelle Betos made 11 saves to post the shutout.
